Hi, been looking to get a dual quad core machine and 1 imac for the studio, but now there is a special one macpro's old stock with the specs:

Two 2GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
1GB (2 x 512MB)
250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB (single-link DVI/dual-link DVI)
One 16x SuperDrive

2,167.225 USD
---

Two 2.66GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
1GB (2 x 512MB)
250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB (single-link DVI/dual-link DVI)
One 16x SuperDrive

2,437.799 USD
---

Two 3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
1GB (2 x 512MB)
250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI)
One 16x SuperDrive

2,708.588 USD
---

Two 3.0GHz quad-core processors (8-core)
1GB (2 x 512MB)
250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI)
One 16x SuperDrive

3,250.277 USD (compare this to the previous price at: 4,711.05 USD , and for the starting price of the dual quad's at : 3,521.058 USD)
----

Is it worthwile getting two of these instead of spending everything on a new dual quad and 1 Imac? I know it's old specs but at least it's two upgradable stable strong macpro's

Any help for a pc user (looking to go to mac)?

Hi

Those prices are with what screens included/not included?

But yeah, you'll like Leopard.

not sure if I'm missing something here but are those prices for old stock really all that good?
Current prices in apple US store seem better to me for more powerful systems.

Example:
Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
2GB (2 x 1GB)
320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB (Two dual-link DVI)
One 16x SuperDrive

2,799.00 USD

Well actually if you have a look again, you will see the (dual dual cores) have a lower starting price than a Imac. I can get two dual dual mac's (last months stock) for about 600 USD less. That's twice the power in a upgradable box for about the same price. I was just wondering if this will be a stupid move to get a mac for lightwave.

How do you mean?

-You can go LW PC and run it on "bootcamp" and so how big the partition for windows?
