... so that it's still effecting my object. It looks like the effector looses its power as soon it's parented to another object, which is attached to the object that needs to be deformed. Any way around this misery?

Yes I've ran into that aswell, use motion modifier expression

Bless Dpont! It works with Node Item Motion (http://pagesperso-orange.fr/dpont/plugins/nodes/nodes/Node_Editors.html#NodeItMot).

Interesting. In which node tree does this show up? The displacement one? Is the any documentation available, as one dponts site there's nothing?

It's a node editor. You just drop the plugin in one of your plugin folders. You open the editor by clicking an items Motion Options, and Add Modifier.

As far as I know there's no documentation, but it pretty much explains itself. You can define an item's motion through nodes.

Yes, it's a bug, it has been reported.

For some reason, when you parent your effector locator it stays in local space of the effector object, meaning when you move the parent, nothing happens.

Using a motion modifier or and parent expression/plugin will probably work
