View Full Version : Object dissolve killing render times

I'm a huge fan of LW's object dissolve (especially since Maya doesn't have anything like it). But as 9.0 progressed to 9.3 I'm finding that it's not really practical to envelope it anymore. It seems like as far back as 8.5 objects would dissolve off very cleanly. Now they "pop" off in the last frame.

Also, I'm doing a forensic animation now where I have characters fading in and out of the scene. When I'm rendering and the render hits the first frame of t he dissolve the times go from a couple of minutes/frame to a couple of HOURS/frame.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with G2 being applied to certain surfaces. Because I don't think with basic surfaces I get such a hit. I've done some experiments, but they're not conclusive. Just checking to see if anyone else was having problems with object dissolve and G2 - or just general OD problems.
