I'm about to purchase Silo but before I do, I had some general questions. All the models that I am going to model in Silo are going to be animated. What's the pipeline between Silo and Lightwave like?

Thanks ahead.

Export the model from Silo, load into LW. :)

I model in LW, export the .lwo out as an .obj. Then I load the .obj into Silo2 for it's slick UV unwrapping tools.. Then I export the changes back out to an .obj. Then I load the new .obj back into LW.

It would be so sweet if Silo built in a LWO import/export the way Andrew has done with 3DBrush.

Silo exports OBJ. That's pretty much all you need to know. ;)

OK. Nice. Export. Import. Bingo.

I guess I was mainly concerned about the ability to create highly detailed meshes and still animate them. For example, from what I've heard about Zbrush, you can export the mesh along with a displacement map to apply in Lightwave (because LW can't easily handle the normal poly count of a highly detailed Zbrush model).

Does it work the same way in Silo?

And should I be considering 3DBrush or Modo in addition to Silo? I'm very impressed with Silo at the moment, but do any of you have particular favorites for organic modeling?

3d Brush is great.

As Larry says, 3DBrush is great - I'm very glad I got on board when I did, even though I may not use it a lot now, it's a heck of a tool to have in your arsenal.
