I recently switched over to using Firefox most of the time now but the only thing I can't figure out about it is every time I come here to the forums, I have to sign in again. It's not keeping me logged in like IE did. Is there a way to set it to to this? I have remember passwords enabled in the options and also have the option to clear any data unchecked when you close the browser. Any ideas?

Maybe clear the cookies?

Check the "security" tab under the preferences. Also check the "privacy" tab, that's where the cookies settings live. I think you need to allow cookies, they are off by default. I think. But maybe helpful?

I use firefox on both mac and pc and it works fine for me. I have cookies enabled, but a fairly limited list.

Good luck.

I had this issue with another forum, and the problem was it set the cookie setting for the site was put in as clear cookies per session. That can be changed in Tools->Options->Privacy- "Exceptions" button under cookies. Just delete it in there and you should be good to go.

Ok, looks like I got it working. I had to actually go into the exceptions and specifically list Newtek.com and allowing cookies for that site. Thanks for the help!

That's weird, I use Firefox on both PC and Mac and I haven't had to do that. But that's the way apps are - I never have any bugs with 9.3 on the Mac but everyone else seems to. And Photoshop doesn't work right. Go figure. You'd think those 1s and 0s would be consistent...

You might want to look into getting the add ons cookiesafe and noscript, as these are well useful for controlling javascript and cookie permissions.

I never had that problem either with Firefox.
is anybody using IE anymore? Everyone seems to be using Firefox these days.

hrgiger, check out Tools>Add-ons and under Extensions and Get Themes, it'll take you to their page for loads of free plugins. There are a whole lot of really cool skins for FF, and some seriously good plugins, such as Flash Block.

The thing I like most about FF is the popup blocker. It just does it, quietly, unlike IE which has to announce it to you every single time, like when your cat brings a mouse or lizard in and plops it on your bed, then gives you that proud "Look what I did!" look. :D

AdBlockPlus is a necessary add on. NoScript is also pretty nice if you're really paranoid.

Yep Adblock Plus, + Filter.G and Noscript are why i changed to Firefox a year or two back, it's made browsing so much nicer than with IE6/7, I have not seen ads on websites in such a long time, it's so nice to just see what your looking for and not a 1000 ads like CGTalk for example.

Even with super-high-speed DSL, CGtalk pages take ages to load if you don't block the ads. Ages...definitely go with Firefox and stay with it.

Opera was also pretty nice.
