I have two flat rectangles. I have used the snap and drag tool to make sure they abut one another. However, when I attempt to move just one of them, the other moves with it. What am I doing incorrectly?

Are you in modeler or layout?

William Vaughan has great tutorial on this tool.

Introduction to the Drag and Snap Drag Tools (ftp://ftp.newtek.com/multimedia/movies/w3dw/Drag.mov)

I am in modeler. I have watched the tutorial. I still have the folding door syndrome

It sounds like you have the wrong "Drag Set" selected. Make sure you have "One point" selected if you only want to move one point, and not "Connected Points" or "All Points" unless you need to move everything. You can check this setting out in the numeric panel.

Select one of the rectangles then use the drag tool...it will only move the points that are part of the selected geometry

I am enclosing two images. One is of two panels constructed individually;left white and right blue. The other image shows what happens when I attempt to move only the blue panel.

looks like points are welded.
I would do a cut and paste to seperate for sure then try again

Thanks Prospector. That works. What I don't understand is why they welded in the first place.

dunno about that one, but ya gotta watch those numeric panels even if you don't use them, some auto weld or merge and it needs to be ticked off.
