Hi !
i'm searching some books or tutorials to have methods to convert a flat 2d character to 3d and animated it. The character will be used inside static transition screen (classic 2d space game shoot'em up).

Here my cartoon hero : (i did it after reading a Christopher Hart book).

i've the essential lightwave v9 book. There are a lot of info to model a 3d character and animate it. My pb is for the head. What'is the best technic to do it ? How to anime the mouth, the eyes with this kind of graphisms ?

Create a model sheet with the character drawn in such a way that the major proportions are lined up from the front and side. Since the character is simple it shouldnt be a real problem to model. You could easily box model this or use splines to trace the model sheet which you can load as a backdrop image in modeler.

Also, if you plan on celshading that model it's almost a requirement that you look over this site http://www.celshader.com/

If you plan to celshade your character its VERY important to have nice smooth geometry. Ive seen lots of bad examples of models that were celshaded and looked terrible because they werent designed to be celshaded. Spline modeling is great for getting nice smooth geometry.
Jen (celshader,com) Hachigian is big on modeling with splines on many of her characters for that reason.

Many thanks for your help. i've not planned to use celshading to render this model. Too newbie to do this !
