Finally installed 9.3.1.
When I press F1, no help appears. :question:
What can I do to fix this?
(don't say click on introduction.html - I want to use F1)

install the help docs?
As far as i remember the F1 help docs are a seperate install you can download from your downloads page at newtek.

Hmmm, strange.. All the help stuff is in the Lightwave folder, it just doesn't open when I press F1. Installing it again seems so silly. Is there no way to point F1 to introduction.html?

There is a bug with installer, my help doesn't work either. There is a trick, someone wrote about it, you have to put some help html file in the right folder position for LW ti launch it when you press F1 but I don't remember what, which and where. :(

Create a notepad file called help.ls

Paste this text in it (please modify it to fit your situation)

// based on code written by twidup

// change this variable to match your browser
//exe file path, you need the double slash too !!!!

Browser = "C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\iexplore.exe" ;

// change this variable to the selected file you
// want to open in it, make sure to leave that
// space at the beginning !!!!

page = " E:\\_LightWave9_3_1\\WebHelp\\lightwave_9_help_fil e.htm";

spawn(Browser+page) ;

Save this file somewhere in your Lightwave directory.
Add this like a plugin in Layout and Modeler.
Assign the F1 key to the help plugin.

WARNING: An extra space in the word help_file has been added by this forum. Don't copy that.
