Hi - I have made a 360 frame animation that is very heavy on my PC and takes 20 hours to render. I am not particularly worried about this as I set it off at night and its done when I get home. However, am I using settings that are slow?

The final is an .avi and I use "Direct Show.avi" as my animation type. Then in options I use "Uncompressed (UYVY)" The Direct show avi codex seems to give me the best quality when I did some tests but I would like to hear from anyone who has some experience in this area. Also, are there better codex available?

Thanks in advance

Colin

Render to an image sequence, as in save to RGB.

You can then compile it @ whatever frame rate you want and export it with compression from there. Quicktime will do.

You can do both, save to RGB and to a vid but .avi is an old dog. Use uncompressed on PC or Animation on mac.
