I have VT 5.0 that the SCZI Cheetah drives keep failing. Can I replace them with 4 SATA Drives at 7200 rpm striped 0 and a controller, will it be fast enough to layer 4 or 5 layers in Toaster Edit? Thanks, Michael :help:

If you go with a 7200 rpm drive go with the Western Digotal WD7500AAKS drive. many consider this drive to be about the fastest 7200 rpm drive built. In reviews it is even faster than some 10,000 rpm drives, mainly due to its perpendicular read and write head.
here is a link to one article about this drive http://www.techreport.com/articles.x/12673
hope this helps.:)

I have that SATA setup and it's crazy fast, and lots of space. Better through put than my older 10K SCSI X 3. I do four layers regurarly, and 5 is I think possible. I'm using 4.6, don't know if VT5 would have higher requirments or not.
