The pro version of DiVX is available as a holiday bonus for a few days. Download it while you can. If you don't know what DiVX is, then you probably don't need to download it... lol

Thanks for the link. Too bad the pro version is still personal use only though.

Thanks for the notice!

Silk, with "personal use only", do you mean you can't use this licence for commercial work?

If people were intending to offer downloads of your commercial work on your website or provide your clients with DivX encoded animations, be sure to read this !!! (http://www.divx.com/company/partner/licensing.php). There are cheaper ways (WMV,QT,MP4 and even FLV) to do that !!!

Thanks. I had some trouble finding the licensing information. Company section usually contain info about the company not the products/services. :)

I guess I'll be sticking with xvid when I want a divx compatible avi. Still, I much prefer divx on stage6 than lousy flv on youtube (or anywhere else).

Their license is very confusing. They are including their player as part of the content.
According to the license agreement when you install the software, it does say for personal use only. But they way I read it, it sounds like you can use it for non profit purposes. Which should included sharing on forums.
Like I said very confusing and their jokes inside the license agreement do not help them or us.

Odd, mine came through within about 2 minutes.
Then of course, my tired old brain suddenly realised I wasn't presented with the option to register it because I'd already bought it - pratt that I am :p

Just use FFMpeg or XVid, no need for watermarked commercial bloatware codecs

I downloaded it just because I could...but I totally agree. If I'm not using Quicktime to distribute my files (which is my preference) I use Xvid.

FYI, I had the same problem with them sending the email to one of my email addresses. Try another email address, it gets sent automatically as soon as they get your address.

On another note: I'd say stick with xvid. I couldn't get the codec to work in any piece of software other than the included divx converter (I even tried it using LW and an background image sequence to save an .avi).
