I have a job where I need very detailed columns. On the old forum there was someone who made these amazing architectural columns. I can't recall who made them. If you are around I would like to talk to you about some up coming work. Please drop me a note at [email protected]

They are some impressive pillars, i was looking at them and thinking, how on earth do u make those curls. So i had a quick go and this is as far as i got.

I hope the guy who made those doesn't mind me tryin to duplicate his design. In the end i used magic bevel.

Awesome! They are soo cool..
Nice attempt too SpankDaddy, I'm wondering how he got the top flat using Sub-d's..
Are you sure it's LW kenmac? (That the originals were made in)

I would create 2-point poly chains along where I wanted the ridges in the spirals to be, then create polys betwixt them and ground bevel/smooth shift those polys inward to define the ridges.
