View Full Version : bone-based lightning color issue

I am making some "lightning" using simple polys and bones to control its behavior..there was a tutorial on this posted here some time ago..using a displacement texture to get the lightning to "twitch"

Anyhoo, I got all that working, but for some reason, parts of my lightning look "stripped" of their glow and color, revealing a dark red underneath! this doesn't happen all the time, nor in every frame of my animation.

Nothing about my lightning contains any red whatsoever! My lightning is a light blue, with a blue glow, and receives and casts no shadows, receives no light.

I'm not seeing any explanation for this red and "stripping" anywhere I look in my scene file or in Surface Editor, or in any Processing pane, so I wonder if it's a quirk that other people have encountered?

several hours' experimentation is showing that Diffuse values over 100% can cause, or at least contribute to what I described above, but I still don't get where the red comes from.
