View Full Version : Radiosity caching filling up memory?

I don't know how this works, so I've got this question.

I've got an animation rendering of a pinmap. (Like the New York harbor graphic in X-Men 1.) The camera starts close to the map and pulls away. (So the frames should probably take less time as time goes on.) I've only got ray traced shadows and background radiosity set up. I used radiosity caching, to avoid any flickering effect in the lighting.

My frames are taking progressively longer to animate. They started out at about a minute per, and when I woke up this morning, I could see they were taking over 12 minutes apiece. Is this the result of LOTS and LOTS of new geometry every frame, requiring radiosity calculations and caching? Am I filling up my RAM with radiosity solutions? Would it be better not to use caching?
