View Full Version : Cranking up material specularity

Although we are told that the specularity works physically correct I hardly doubt it. At least the results are much to dark. While the reflectivity is alright, the "old" specularity is much too weak. Usually I need to split up my light into a diffuse and a specularity light with the spec light have 10x times the amount of the diffuse light. How can I avoid to do this globally? I'd like to do this on a per surface basis, but without changing the amount of reflectivity. So, what's the trick?

Try this thing...

or do a search for Material Splitter, there are about three thirdparty nodes that'll do it now.

Thanks, James.

I just don't get why they don't fix this or why nobody else yet complains about it. Specularity with material nodes is 10x to low. Reflections are alright.
