We've just finished a new update to SpeedEDIT and want to let you know it's available for download now. Our goal with SpeedEDIT has been to make editing faster and more enjoyable and with this upgrade we've moved a few steps farther. Now project files can be used directly in any application that can read an AVI file, bypassing the time it normally takes to render. We've added a few other features and improved the workflow as well. If you already own SpeedEDIT make sure you get your free download to 1.5. If you haven't added SpeedEDIT to your pipeline, now's a good time... you can also get it bundled with a full copy of LightWave or an upgrade. http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/lw-se_bundle.php

For more details check out the press release located here: http://www.newtek.com/news/releases/11-12-07a.html

Current SpeedEDIT users can get their free 1.5 download at http://www.newtek.com/speededit/downloads.php

We hope you enjoy the update.

Nice work guys. Especially curious to see what the new targa sequences import support is all about.

Cheers!

Just a caution, if you need Bob Tasa's plug-ins in your SpeedEDIT projects, you shouldn't install the SpeedEDIT 1.5 update yet.

Bob Tasa has not yet received a SDK for SE 1.5 from Newtek, so without that, and time for him to recompile/update his plug-ins to work with SE 1.5, they won't work.

Hi, this is my first post here... but I read it a lot...

I have a current project (SD) in SE 1.2. Is it safe to upgrade to 1.5 now or is it better to finish it in 1.2 and then upgrade?.. I'd like to take the advantage of .avi wrapper...

xpycm, While I always suggest NOT upgrading mid project, I've opened many 1.2 edl's and 1.5 hasn't had any negative effect. Looks safe so far.
Unless as Eugene mentioned, you have Bob's plugins in use.

Thank you, Ted. I don't use any Bob's plug-ins yet, so I'll upgrade now...

Great stuff, pleasantly surprised at a timely update like this, since I ran into a project the other day requiring better mpeg2 support then SE 1.2 could give me.

Plus the avi wrapper might make things a LOT easier from the way it looks!

Found a small oddity in the installer though ... the installer .exe comes to ~146mb ... and a complete install lists around 75mb's worth of items, yet it requires 228mb of space on the drive? :)

Bob Tasa has had the SDK for weeks now.

Thanks Mike. But I'm sure you'll agree he didn't when I made my post. :)

I need to dive into SE's advanced audio tools, if there is any?
