Thought I would share this link. Truly an amazing assemblage of modeling, rendering, and Flash programming. Incredibly nice work.

Not as nice as this.

"The company's first car, the Saab 92 was a streamlined steel-bodied 2 door saloon with a two cylinder 2 stroke engine driving the front wheels and with independent suspension all round. The company's aviation roots were evident in the car with the best drag coefficient of any production car in the world (CD= 0.32) at the time." -wikipedia.org

You can definately see the influences in their first model as compared to other models of its time. It's as if you could simply put wings on it and fly it home.

There's this thing about the model numbering with the Saab, like Boeing has this thing for no. 7. Saab has a 9 thing. 92, 99, 900 and then, think they blew it, over extended it a bit with 9000.

But their design can often be very unique, the dashboard on the 900 was the best part of the car, it had these meters (speedo? or turbo?) with really unusual whimsical graphics, a bit like a plane, but more fantastical like a balloon or some futuristic sci-fi vehicle.

It seems very hard to find photos or reference to original dashboards. One I can never find is the dashboard of the first Porche, the squashed down VW, this had a most incredible radio with a far out jazzy appearance which probably made up for all the car's other shortcomings (it seems they all rusted away because of poor quality post war metal).

That is crazy awesome. I wish I had a lot of money and a driver's license.

Looks like a cross between an Aston Martin and a Jaguar.

That should shake off the "old man's car" image they've been working hard towards recently.
