For the life of me I can't figure out what BGConform would be useful for. I mean there is no Numeric associated with it, so you have virtually no control over it, and all it does (that I can see) is bring the closest points on the foreground layer object to the corresponding points in the background layer, and discard the rest.

Anyway, I finally stumbled on a wonderful, free plugin named PointFit that does what I think BGConform should do. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm hoping it works with LW 9.0+. It's kinda old (1999), so we'll see. I just surprised that NT hasn't implemented such a function in LW, considering it's so powerful and useful. Here's the link:

So, can anyone shed some light on why you'd use BGConform?

Thanks.

PointFit is usefull for fitting points on polys,
but it has the same usage than BGConform,
yes it moves points to nearest on BG layer,
and that helps a lot also for alligning points before
merging or finish a mesh rebuild with different
point indexation (i.e for morph),
so may be not productive for you, but I wouldn't
they remove it.
There's also a BGConform+ somewhere
but I lost the link.

I have BGConform hotkeyed, that's how useful I find it. It's great for realigning polys and points.

edit:...was too fast,
I would say it has not the same usage...
