mmmm, interesting:

LightWave® Rendition™ for Adobe® Photoshop® will ship with its own 3D model art library and works with models from other sources, such as Google™ SketchUp’s 3D Warehouse or any of these readily available common 3D interchange formats: LWO, 3DS, OBJ, U3D, KMZ, and COLLADA, allowing each to be fully rendered in high-resolution.

will those new 3 popular import formats be added to standard LW now? would be kind of strange not to have them if the 'little brother' has them...

...and maybe those 3DS and OBJ translators are improved versions of LW ones? ;)

cheers

The import of 3DS, OBJ, U3D, KMZ, and COLLADA formats is facilitated by Photoshop itself.

So .. a -few- weeks are over ... what's the status on the Rendition beta?

I noticed it's been added to the Products Registration menu (not as beta, which is odd).

I'll be a festidious, thorough beta tester. Really. :)

Yeah it's sad that LW cannot read half of those formats, and Photoshop and Adobe did not support the .LWO..

actually, we have created a plug in for Photoshop that reads LWO, and it is being tested along with Rendition...

Sounds good. Can't wait to help in the 'testing' process.

It will be worth the wait if it is more stable than the current PS3 plugs ...

Thanks Jay,

That actually makes SOooo much more sense to me...
When signing up for the Beta, the thought that i would need to convert my Lightwave Models to Obj or something to use in Rendition, and that did make me scratch my head a few times...
