i have hostned, i dont use them for much more than storage so i can p1mp my work and have the coolest avatar ever, but they definatly are great for the price, the server is in the UK, but speeds are usually good, not blazing like U.S. servers, but still good.

These guys are really good

Dreamhost (http://www.dreamhost.com/rewards.cgi?suture)

Hosting starts at about US$9.95 I think.

But even that is a feature pack plan.
You get a jabber chat server, 24 hr tech support, web based control panel, 150MB disk storage, 20 GB monthly Bandwidth, 20 POP 3 email accounts, 5 Shell FTP accounts, Web based Email Access @ https//webmail.yourdomain.com your own discussions lists, mailing lists and database, 1 Free Domain name Registration, 5 Subdomains Hosted, 1 Domain hosted, unlimited domain forwarding, MySQL database, PHP4, Full Unix Shell, Full CGI, SSI, SSL Secure Server, Daily Access Stats, Banner Free Guestbook, Password protect Directories (.htaccess), RealAudio and Video (http stream). Plus these guys are continually coming up with new features and enhancements.

There's a lot more stuff in the web admin panel, but take a look. Tell em 'suture' sent you :-)

yer yer they also have a rewards program as well, which means that custommers get paid for referals, which can actually start to generate income.
Anyway take a look.

For ppl in the UK http://www.webfusion.co.uk look quite good, one of the best iv found. Iv been looking for a good host for a while. Its 100 for 1 year and u get 600meg of space and 3 gig a month transfer + lots of nice extras. Webhosting in the UK like most internet related stuff is very over priced, cant even get a good internet connection since adsl only reaches about 60% of the population and only none rural areas, and cable is just as bad.
To be honest i think im just going to go for a US host and live with the extra delay on loading the site. Dreamhost looks damn good, not much webspace who to be honest id never use 150 meg cos it would take me a day to upload anything big to it :)
CG Channels plans look good too with the unlimited bandwidth. The ammount of times iv seen ppls sites go down within a few hours of posting a link to something hosted on it in a forum like this :)

I've used hostned for just over a year now and I've no problems with them so far. They offer awesome features for the price. For $60 a year you get unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth, 5 email accounts, and support for ASP and CGI scripting. They're servers aren't the fastest I've seen but they aren't that bad either.

I am sure all the suggestions are good. But I will say that Hostned have done good by me so far and have been really patient with me (new to the web side of things so I am sure most of my questions seem rudimentary to them). What ever you chose....good luck on the search.
