View Full Version : Render speed 10.4x vs. 10.3x

I'm working on a different machine than usual here at work. It's a 1.6 ghz G5 power mac with 2 gigs of ram. I'm doing some render tests and it seems a bit slower than it should be. Is it possible that upgrading from the current 10.3.9 OS to 10.4 could improve things for me?

Just wondering if anyone else had any experience with this type of problem.

Thanks!

Hi,

What version of LW?

Ooops! Left my LW version out. :) I'm using 9.2. I could also upgrade to 9.3 if it makes a difference.

Thanks,

Grab the 9.3 UB. It should render faster on your G5.

Okay, I'll give the UB a shot. So does that mean 10.3 vs. 10.4 doesn't make a difference?

Thanks!

Hi,

Our UB will only work on 10.4, unfortunately. I don't know if jumping to Tiger will speed things up for you. But I do know that 9.3 UB should be faster than any previous version of LightWave on the same hardware.

Hi R2D2,

I've got that exact machine and found everything worked better in 10.4. For some reason 10.3 never worked as well as 10.2 on this machine here either.
