Hi all,

Well, I'm creating a new version of an animation and need to have a tube follow a path and deform to it. I have tried to attach a similar animation I did in 3ds Max but this system just doesn't seem to want to cooperate (my office firewall may be helping me?). In that animation, I pushed some cones down various paths from 0% to 100%. I figured it would be as easy to do in LightWave but so far I have come up short. Any ideas? I've tried various curve constraints with no luck -- they all moved the tube and some distorted the tube in odd ways.

Here is a picture of the animation...wow, what a pain...this thing doesn't like mov's or something like that. Too bad we aren't accountants then it wouldn't matter! :devil:

Hi Frank,

There are a few ways to do this in LW.

One unconventional method is to use an animated texture on long thin transparent polygons bent into shape with bones, also can be used to animate text or any other image sliding along an object.

Another method is to use the Serpent plugin located in the properties/deform tab.
change the axis and start and end properties to suite your needs.
This works very well.

The Greg Sullivan2 video shows an interesting take on this.

A free plugin called Shift Spline Transform (if you can find it)
A free plugin called FIs Bezier Bend
A free plugin called Fertilizer

Check Flay.com in the plugin section for some of these.
