View Full Version : 9.3 UB can't find dongle- but 9.3 PPC can?

Has anyone had any problems with LW UB finding the dongle?

I am running both G5 PPC, and MacBook Pro (Intel) and I cannot seem to get the UB versions to find the dongle- however on both machines, the PPC version of LW 9.3 finds the dongle without a problem. I have an older USB dongle (Rainbow) that i have had since LW7 and am wondering if it isn't compatible with UB

any ideas??

As far as we have seen, there are no known incompatibilities with the dongles. That's not to say it's impossible, just not something we've been able to reproduce.

I'd recommend removing the Eve3.framework from the /Library/Frameworks/ folder, and see if the UB runs then. If so, lemme know!

That is strange...I have the same type of dongle on my G5 and all is good. I think I may even still have the Eve3 stuff installed.

Is it actually the dongle or is it the license key?

Good point, Mark.

John, can you post a screenshot (or the text) of the exact error LightWave gives you?

Thanks for your quick response-
Here is what I get when launching 9.3UB on my G5

And when I access the Help>Enter Unlock Code , or Help>Enter License I get

I have placed the license.key file in both the Library>Preferences>Lightwave3D
folders as well as within the SharedSupport folder

the license key is identical to the one used to run 9.3 PPC (and my previous iterations of LW 9 - I even copied and pasted the number into a new plain text document...

Here is a screengrab of 9.3PPC, and 9.3UB running concurrently, with the dialog boxes for "Make License" invoked...

Thanks for your help!

Hmmm, that is strange. I am assuming that the light on the Dongle is lit (hey you never know).

Have you logged in to double check that your key is correct; I believe with 9.3 they issued new keys.

I guess your dongle is fine if the CFM version sees it. ??? Hmmmm. You do not have the CFM and the UB in the same folder do you; maybe the HUB is getting really confused; even though that should probably not cause the license key and the dongle not to be found.
