Hello to all,

I'm considering ugrading my 1.8 dual PPC G5 Mac with an "ATI RADEON 9600 PRO 4x/8x AGP 256MB Dual DVI Video Card". I currently with the GEforce 5200, 64 Mgb on board. Anyone had some experience with the ATI card?

May the pixels be with you,

GP

Well the ATI RADEON 9650 with 250MB (which is about the same as the retail one you're thinking of) is what shipped as standard with my old Dual 2.5Gig and it's always worked just fine, anything has to be better than 64MB, besides all of the newer cards run on a different bus so what you can put in an old G5 is fairly limited with regards to high end cards.

I would try and track down a X800 or a GeForce 6800 Ultra. I have the X800 but I had to put an after market cooler on it; because the stock one decided to melt the solder holding it on. (it is still a great card though and probably the fastest you can get for an old school G5 with 8x AGP)
