Great read. I find it amazing that they designed all the custom chips using breadboards.

I do quite a few prototype circuits on breadboards and they are normally only simple things. Finding faults on them can be hard enough work. I can't imagine how much work it would be to have 1 circuit spread over 6 large breadboards.

I did a few simple designs too back in school on a board that was appoximately 6x6 inches. As you said, finding problems with simple designs can be hard enough. I guess the design software was either not available back then in amiga days, not powerful enough or maybe simply too expensive. When I did my designs we had some software provided to us too. I forgot its name.
