View Full Version : Installing 9.3 - How to??

I'm not seeing any info on how to install 9.3 (Win32) while I have 9.2 already installed. Does anybody know if this is a simple 'install over 9.2' situation or a 'back everything up, use config switches, re-add all you plugins, import menu & key configs' extravaganza.

I've got 2 projects starting up today and would like to do them with 9.3 but not if it's going to be as much of a hassle as upgrading from 9.0 to 9.2 was.

Any advice?

Never hurts to backup your work :) You can install 9.3 without uninstalling 9.2 - the install process will create a new 9.3 folder, next to your previous versions

Now you might want to use shortcuts with -c"Your_new_9.3_config_folder" options (same process as th OB versions) to get distinct config files - I highly recommend this step !

It seems that the scene and object files format haven't changed between 9.2 and 9.3, thus your current projects might be opened and saved by both 9.2 and 9.3

Hope that helps :)

Thanks Weetos. I had a feeling it would be that sort of installation.

You're welcome. Even though it's not as easy as you might expected, it's still better than it was when upgrading from 9.0 to 9.2 - even if the process is still tedious, the number of squashed bugs and the few extra features is worth the hassle imho

Ummm...I'm a little confused :)

In my downloads I have a Lightwave v9.2 Open BetaPatch Release 9.3 Candidate 6 Build 1268

Then a little further down I have Lightwave v9.3 and Lightwave v9.3 Trial Edition Downloads

So...which is the real v9.3 download?

Thanks

It's the one in the general part of your downloads, not the open beta bit which we don't talk about outside of the beta program.
