View Full Version : LScript commander not really working???

I've got a HUGE laborious task in front of me that even if I distribute amongst the juniors, is still a huge task.

Problem: I've got a pile of scene fiels which originated in Character Studio, went through Deep exploration and got spat out as LW scenes, which is good. BUT, the scenes now have Max's end joints which need to be stripped as they dont animate and their inclusion means there's too many bones int he object ofr our game engine. Secondly, there's two rigs in there- one object heirarchy, with the Character studio `body-part-objects` (all of no use) and a second heirarchy which is the boned character that I need to keep (sans end joints, of course!)

So, I thought the LS commander woudl be perfect to automate this stripping and reparenting fo items that I need to do on 100+scenes, BUT it generates nonesense!!! See below (this is just a quick selection of 13 bones in the rig)

SelectItem 404b0001
AddToSelection 404c0001
AddToSelection 404d0001
AddToSelection 404e0001
AddToSelection 404f0001
AddToSelection 40540001
AddToSelection 40550001
AddToSelection 40560001
AddToSelection 40570001
AddToSelection 40580001
AddToSelection 40590001
AddToSelection 405a0001
AddToSelection 405b0001

Which is just selecting various end joint bones (in the original or new scene editor), this unfortunately translates into this

SelectItem("Bip01_L_Foot");
AddToSelection("Bip01_L_Foot");
AddToSelection("Bip01_L_Foot");
AddToSelection("Bip01_L_Foot");
AddToSelection("Bip01_L_Foot");
AddToSelection("Bip01_R_Toe01");
AddToSelection("Bip01_R_Foot1");
AddToSelection("Bip01_R_Calf1");
AddToSelection("Bip01_R_Thigh1");
AddToSelection("Bip01_Spine4");
AddToSelection("Axis10");
AddToSelection("Axis10");
AddToSelection("Axis10");

And if i go though the whole heirarchy adding everything to my selection, when converted to LS, I get about a bunch of AddToSelction("Error"); many repeats (see the "Axis10" selections above) and a script which when executed does not repeat my selection.

Am I doing anythign wrong? I've tried it in 8 and 9.2 but they both appear to have LS commander 1.0 included. This *SHOULD* be straightforwards- its only selecting items in a heirarchy!

help sil vous plait?
Frustrated

Newtek did change the way items in Layout are handled, it's a good bet that LScript and LSCommander have not yet been updated to reflect those changes.

Jay Roth can probably shed more light on this, try contacting one of the NT staff.
