So I have a software striped array of Scsi drives that I use for capturing video, playback of video and graphics, etc.

I just cleared several hundred gigs of data off.

It seems to me that I recall hearing that defragging SCSI drives isn't necessary..... is that true? After clearing that much space (and after 2 years of using this array)... is there something I should do to "clean it"?

easy to do:
back up to usb2 drives and reformat then install the backup

defragging can actuall over exersize the haeds and the flex-membrane cables to heads and cause failure or loss of life span of the drives.

faster too!

Yea exactly.

Empty the drive and do a complete full reformat just as Pete says.

Ends up much quicker than a defrag too.
