View Full Version : What is LWO2?

I've been trying to find the best way to convert some models to Max for a client and I read about an older plugin that sounds half decent for importing LWO2 to Max. But what is LWO2? There's no export options in Modeler for it, so is it the same thing as the current LWO?

Yes it is a normal .lwo, it was the Lightwave type object introduced in LW 6 if I remember well.

Okay that makes sense, I knew the format changed in 6, but I didn't know that's what they were calling LWO2. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that LWO2 was the format that made storing UV data possible.

I think it also overcame a poly limit of lwo1 .. tho not sure.

Did you first come across it in Accutrans3D as I did ;) ?

Yeah, I think there was a poly limit of 65,000 or so per model, or per layer or something like that.
I don't remember for sure where I first heard about LWO2, but I think it was in a support email from Right Hemisphere.

I do have accutrans. It actually looks like FBX is going to be the best format for converting to Max, even though it hasn't been updated in over 2 years. I guess NewTek has more important things at hand.
