Well, first you need to learn the basics of Lightwave. Also, buy a LW manual other than the one that came with the software (if you have one), and Dan Ablan from 3dGarage.com has some great tutorials, and a section that shows the creation of a title spread and animation.

Think about getting: Inside Lightwave 9 and also Essential Lightwave 9
both are available from Amazon and both are great and come with hours and hours of training videos...

before starting... i'm not sure if 7.5 will run smoothly in rosetta emulation mode on your intel mac. anyone here doing so? probably it's a very good idea to upgrade to LW9.2 UB before getting too much frustrated over many things that won't work... the UB version is specifically developed for the intel mac generation with lots of other vantages (especially faster rendering of GI scenes, better overall stability and nodes shader system) over 7.5.

my preferred book for LW is "1001 tips and tricks" for lightwave 8!

7.5 runs okay on Intel Mac pretty sure, haven't used it that much, but did put it on and got it going. But like 8x the rendering will be slow, but only comparatively, doesn't matter that much with simple things.

And the hat? Did you get the hat? You have to have the hat...

Mine is a long cone and it says Du-Nce... apparently it is a form of greeting in French...

You can also find Dan's or other books at your local public library. Can save you from spending some of your own money. If they don't have em' request em'.
