View Full Version : Rendering artifacts

I am rendering with all combined: photoreal motionblur, DOF, HDR backdrop radiosity and reflection maps.

Limit Dynamic Range turned off, I really like those bright highlights.

I get artifacts which have a particular shape. Anybody seen this?

LW9.2 Gold, Build 1165 Mac 32

I would turn all of those things off, reapply and rerender one by one.

I guess that's not the answer that one would expect ;)
It should be possible, if not, the software is buggy. Please, Simpfendoerfer, make a bug report.
LW's shortcomings have long enough treated this way (working around all the bugs, and leaving them in place).

Try to render it with other AA settings (none or lowest), perspective and classic camera, turn each function on and off to see which is causing the glitch. With all the bells and whistles at the sames time it could be everything (or a combination of things)

My suggestion was to go back to a basic starting point, render, add something else and keep doing it until it breaks. Makes it a bit easier to track down the problem. :)

Attempt 1:
Removed HDR color map from front glass of clock.
Noise is gone.

Attempt 2:
HDR color map from front glass of clock is being used.
DOF on,
MB Photoreal off
Noise is gone

Attempt 3:
HDR color map from front glass of clock is being used.
DOF off,
MB Photoreal on
Noise is there

It seems the combination of HDR color map and MB Photoreal is the problem.

I tried it also with the latest Beta, Build 1204. I posted it as a bug.

Also try blurring the HDR Image. Whats the resolution of the HDR Image?

I've seen things like that reported in the beta forum before, file a bug report with this render as a content.
