Question:
Why do you need MDD for?
Are you planning to import/export animation files from/to any other software package like XSi?

Anyway, here you have something that can be usefull abou how to use MDD files in LW.

http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/tutorials/animation/crowd/CrowdAnimation_Release1.pdf

Note:
MDD is a format were the animated points of a mesh are recorded and storage. This can be translated/exported from one application to other.
Be aware though, MDD files can become big, very big in size!

Take a look at these examples from Jennifer Hachigian:

Actually, I can do a quicky set of tutorials at the next NZ LWUG, Alvin (which I think is due next week - Darn, that's come around quickly!) :D

What in particular did you want to know about working with MDD?

Hi Kevin,
Cool... if you don't mind to show some lw tricks would be good!! Because I am thinking using LW for basic character animation, like walk, jump, etc. Morph mixer for facial animation, some dynamic, like breaking glass... and using mdd if I need export/import to other app.

look forward to next LWUG meeting.:D

Cheers
Alvin

No worries - I use OBJ Baking and MDD rebuilding to share animation from Maya and render in LightWave, so I'll put together a few small snippets of info for baking out to MDD from LW as well...
