View Full Version : Happy 87th Birthday to Ray Harryhausen

Just thought we needed a bit of good news on the forums ;) There are very few true 'living legends' in the World today, Ray Harryhausen  has earned and richly deserves the title in return for the films he has produced, the work he continues to do and the inspiration he has provided to so many people over the years. I hope he enjoys a great 87th birthday today and that there will be many more to come. I will be raising a glass of wine in celebration this evening before sitting down to watch one of his classic movies.

Happy birthday Ray :) :beerchug:

yeah defo!

Ray Harryhausen was the entire effects DEPARTMENT on most of his films which makes watching the endless credits roll by with some effects film look quite inefficient in their delivery!:D

Sounds like a plan to me  The only one missing from my collection is 'Mighty Joe Young' as that is still not available as a Region 2 release but all of his other films are. I watched 'Golden Voyage of Sinbad' this evening. Great creature animations from the Maestro, wonderful performance from Tom Baker (which reportedly secured him the role of Doctor Who) and Caroline Munro ...er...well ....just being her gorgeous self  :D

...next up earth vs the flying scaucers!....retro sci fi!I keep promising myself that I'll build/model one of the saucers and aliens from that film as I have enough reference material available, they are both pretty much inorganic (which suits my modelling skills) and ...er...because I can :D

P.S. Where did you get the Saucer poster shot from ? I haven't seen that one before.
