I seem to recall in previous versions of Lighwave being able to save the ZBuffer or illumination buffer etc. Where can I find this functionality in 9.2? I can find no mention of it in the documentation....

Look for buffersaver in the image filter list.

You can get to all of those through the Render Buffer Export image filter, or manually with the Render Buffer Viewer.

You can also save the various internal buffers (+ extras) by using the RPF, RLA, or PSD saver image filters. The commercial EXRTrader also has a layered export plugin.
