Saw this while surfing DStorm's site. It's from a Japanese company called keica inc. They're responsible for the Ridge Racer game cinematics. I'd love to see a profile on them here from NT.

the site:
http://www.keica.jp/index.htm

To get to the reel click on gallery, it should load the reel first...if not click on the "demo reel" link on the left. There is also some shorts cel-shaded movies/trailers/music vids on the list check em out, i'm pretty sure they're all done in LW. :)

a little known fact: on the sixth link (in japanese under "jelly fish") is a very very video called escalator. there is a wide shot of the escalators in full, on top of the escalators is a sign...you can't read it on the video but the sign actually says "Lightwave3D" on it.

If you come across a book called virtual beauties 2020, (by agosto publishing) on page 137 you'll see the full shot, Lightwave3D sign and all.

Just thought it was cool of them to put that on that video.

Damn sweet stuf there! Newtek needs to put these people up at SIGGRAPH. Play this demo reel either as itself or inside their own demo.

yea thats some really nice character animation going on there. id agree it would make NT and LW look really cool if they included it in there reels.
However, is all of that stuff done in just LW?

Though I'm not entirely sure, maybe 95% sure but if you look at their links page it says this on the company area: MOZOO (a motions capture company), D-Strom (Lightwave Reseller in Japan), NewTek (well, you know), Worley Labs (FPrime, Sas, etc.) and PIX (a short animation film collection DVD publisher). I've always known that the Reiko model was made with Lightwave. :)
