So does this mean still no 64bit LW for the Mac?

My guess is that there's no need to worry. The article you linked to was referring to Carbon's 64bit capabilities and here it says: (http://www.newtek.com/news/releases/01-06-04b.html) "The roadmap will migrate LightWave 3D to Apple's Xcode development environment and transition the application from Carbon to OS X native." That was in 2004 so if I understood correctly, LightWave does not depend on Carbon nowadays.

From my communication with Newtek, I am under the impression that 64bit Mac LW development is largely incumbent on Leopard, but is continueing as much as possible in the meantime.

As I am not an employee or spokesman for Newtek, there's always the possibility that I am in error. But I'm personally not worried.
