I am so new to Lightwave 8, so forgive me if I sound totally green. My first question is:
1. What is the best, simplest, Lightwave 8 book or DVD that can really get me up to speed without too much tech talk? The majority of the stuff I want to do is text at this point.
I have at least opened Lightwave, made a ball and bounced it. What I don't understand is how do I intergrate Lightwave within my Final Cut Pro projects.
2. How do I create objects or text, then get them into other nle applications? Do I "save as" or something? In need of a lot of instruction and a ton of help.

Get Dan Ablans inside lightwave 8 book- it's a great starting point for all these questions.

To get stuff into an NLE you'll need to render out an image sequence using an alpha channel, which will let you composite the images.

If I render out the sequence in LW, what do I save it as to get it into FCP?

png32 and tga32 both have alpha channels, png is better as it's non lossy compressed.
