I own 2 myself. One for me and one I bought for a friend I'm semi permanently loaning to depending on how much interest he has in it.

One here. Bought at 4.0, upgraded via 5.0 to 5.5 (was the only way at the time). Skipped 6.x except for periodic exposure to it due to specific events. Upgraded at 7.0. Skipped 8.x except where I had access to it due to specific events (and didn't like anything about 8.x really). Upgraded to 9.0 from 7.5 following a demo by a friend who had already got access (and got a 8.5 upgrade in the process).

So I have boxes for 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 7.0, 8.5 and a disk case for 9.0 :D I have used 4.0, 5.0 (briefly), 5.5, 5.6, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.x, 9.0 and 9.2.

Actually, with people mentioning what version too, it could be fun to do another survey with "What version was your first Lightwave licence?". It would need someone whos been using it longer than me though to set it up, I xcame in at V5.6 and am not sure what earlier ones were actually available...

two.
one is 4.0(1995) that was bundled a creator system of SCE.
another one is 7.5(2003) that upgraded 9.2(2007) now.

2 licenses - One at 9.2 and One at 8.X used mainly for modelling.

Started with LW 5.5 and still remember the revolutionary Hypervoxels plugin :)

Well, the first official free-standing version of LW was LW3.0/3.1 for the Amiga which introduced the parallel port dongle. Prior to that it shipped with an NTSC-only Video Toaster dongle so wasn't really available. I still have a complete set of Amiga LW 3.0/3.1 floppy disks and manuals along with disks and manuals for all PC versions from LW4.0 through to LW8.X. I only have the disks for LW9.X as I have yet to invest in a hard-copy manual :D

Hm, I wonder how many people started out with an Inspire license ?

Second hand copy of LW4.0 for me, about the time 5.6 was out, which I ended up upgrading once I realised that Newtek don't penalise those upgrading from a release before the current one. :)

One, started at 6.x. Can't remember if it was 6.0 or 6.5, seems like I had to download the 6.5 update, just not sure if it was immediately when I bought it.

Three

One 9.2
One 7.5 that's part of my VT system
One 3.5 Amiga version collecting dust in my closet

1 1/2

I had an Original Amiga Video Toaster put into an Amiga 2000 which eventually was transfered to an Amiga 3000 and has since been sold off. Animation frames were put together using a DPS PAR at the time.

Purchased a stand alone LW for PC when 5.x came out to use with a DPS PVR system. [I think - my memory's not so good anymore]. The PVR is not used any longer as better edit systems became available.

Amazingly, I'm still using my original Parallel Dongle.

I have the Video Toaster, which came with LightWave. Then I got the Pc version of 4.0 and its dongle (which I lost), and then a 6.0 dongle. That makes three, though isn't each version technically a license? I mean, I have a 9.0 license, and I still have my 8.0 license, and a 5.0, etc. That would make it:
LW1
LW2
LW3
LW3.1
LW3.5
LW4
LW5
LW5.5
LW5.6
LW6 (Betaforce)
LW6 (release)
LW6.5
LW7
LW7.5
LW8
LW8.01
LW8.2
LW8.21
LW8.3
LW8.5
LW9
LW9.2

Twenty-two licences.

But as for dongles (including Toaster cards), that's three.

i have 2 dongles...
one is upto 9.2 and the other is 'stuck' at 8.5....if there was a cheaper was to upgrade the second seat to 9.2 i'd do it....but it's a full cost thing so it stays 'in limbo'
