I am happy to pay - but 9.5 would have to work much better than 9.2

I`d be interesteed in knowing any plans for pricing.

I think the point updates are still free. The base price of LightWave is increasing, though, so if you need a brand-new license you'll pay more.

bbbZZZZtttt

Sorry wrong answer - unless you know something about 9.5.

A month or two ago Newtek sent out an email stating that the price of an upgrade was going up $100 and the price of a new/full license was also going up by $100.

But I can't remember if the effective date was 1 June 2007 or 1 July 2007.

Kinda curious as I've been trying to buy the update but so far all I've managed to get is an RMA bumber to upgrade the dongle (purple is out - red is in .... I guess).

No P.O. number - no cost for shipping - no nothing other than the RMA number.

Two emails to sales - two emails to customer service - one phone call to c.s.

Presumably Kurtis, what with working for NewTek and all, knows what he's talking about, Byte.

Hell, even if it is $100 bucks for 9.5, you wouldn't hear me bellyachin'. Then again, they did put that funny stuff in my tasty beverage last siggraph... ;)

Naw - the bzzztt thing was for vadermanchild's reply - which was most recent when I started typing it.

But slow typing combined with a couple of distractions and ..... it looked like I was replying to someone else.

And it's an accross the board increae - it just so happens a point update got caught in the line of fire.

Considering inflation and the features unrolling in 9.2 and probably beyond it's to be expected.

Frankly I'm glad NR held the price as long as they did.

And glad they gave a good lead time warning about the increase.

We can probably all think of some software packages that had leaps in price overnight .... w/o so much as clue it was about to happen.

ps - I see prospector posted while I was typing this.

I tend to avoid pitchforks whenever possible but the brewski would hit the spot about now

For what it's worth, the costs of the upgrades are not going up -- only the cost of a full license of LightWave is going up. If you already own a full license of LightWave, student or professional, this won't affect you at all.

The way I read it upgrading to 9x from a previous version has a price increase.

But there isn't a price increase for 9.0 to 9.2 because all the 9dots are included in 9.0 price and so on.

Considering I'm on 8.5 and trying to get 9x on order I will pay the price increase if I don't order before July 1st.

anybody got more brewskis ????

The press release mentions only that the full license gets the price increase.

From http://www.newtek.com/news/releases/04-25-07a.html

"On July 1, 2007 the suggested retail price for a full license of LightWave v9.2 will increase to $895US with PDF documentation and $995US with the printed manual set."

Nothing in there about a price increase for upgrades, so you're cool. :)

I thought the mention of cost was related to incremental point releases.

If its not changing in that area then im happy.

Just to make it all nice and clear...

On July 01, 2007, full versions (PDF or Printed Docs) will increase by $100.

There is no price increase for full point upgrades.

Incremental upgrades are still free.

I know, I was talking about when I'll have to upgrade to LightWave X(10)...

Perhaps people will start buy seats in bulk and sell them later knowing the price will go up.

Probably better than most stocks.

LOL
