For anyone who is thinking of getting into the exciting world of selling content, this thread may be interesting:

I am amazed at how this is playing out -- a real soap opera.

Whether it's Poser only, or any other form of modeling, texturing, etc, it is enlightening for anyone not familiar with getting into 3D content selling (or anyone who already is in the business.) I'm amazed it was presented in public like this and can't see how this won't eventually be a court action.

[edit] I should have added you can read the other side of the "story" here:

I guess

I'm not sure how to take your response. So you don't think it's important or applies to Lightwave users? You wouldn't react to someone using your site content without permission?

The only reason I posted this, in the general section, was it appeared (to me) as a rather interesting debate over something that could happen to anyone who sells or intends to sell 3D content.

Since I'm new to 3D graphics, maybe you can explain why this is an "I guess" subject?

By the way, nice web site (I mean it!)

I did meant that this would be an 'I guess' subject.

Afterall we all hate the idea for spending weeks or even months to produce our work, only to have someone 'Take the short route' and steal it and worst of all... claim ownership.

Thanks for the website comments... it's just a filler until i get the time to make a new one.

To sum it up in a sentence: It started with person1 accusing person2 of using person1's photos illegally to make textures, and it ended(?) with it all being libel and slander... :thumbsdow

Actually, if some innocent people weren't getting hurt by it, it was kind of funny. There was CNN, FBI, and (of course) lawyers, all used as threats. And a store site that took a side without getting the whole (both sides) of the story.

Anyway, I only posted it for new-bee's (like me) who may someday want to sell some of their 3D work. Keeping good records and non-edited copies of resources (digital and even analog, such as photo negatives) seems very wise.

The other site (the one that didn't react to the accuser) still has a long thread up on this.
