Hey guys, just joined the forum, thought it would be a great place for help.

Anyways, Im creating an intro for a documentary, and i need a extruded logo to look really good. its a circlular logo with trajan pro text to the left of it, all made of gold sitting on a rough blue surface.

Tips on making the gold look awesome?

Use the Conductor node as a material.
that'll give you awesome metal.

Don't forget to give it a background or image map to reflect...

and HDR images are the best for reflection maps.

I tend to blur the hdr's in photoshop slightly, then reduce the size of them if I use them only as reflection maps or for radiosity lighting.

Yeah ive got an HDR image, but id like to know more about the conductor nodes... ive never touched nodes in LW9.

It's one of the material nodes in lw 9.2.
Read the relevant documentation in the updated docs of 9.2, or do a search for conductor on this forum. It's quite an extensive topic.

To add one, just go to the surface editor, enable nodes, enter the node editor, pick conductor from the material node list, and drag a line from its output to the bottom connector of the final thing. Then set the color and shininess of the metal and so on in the conductor node.

Yeah, Conductor's the way to go. It's also very easy to use, I got this metal texture with only a couple minutes of tweaking.

(Sorry for the poor camera placement, I was concentrating on the top highlight)

Seriously, get 9.2! It's a life-changer.
