Hey guys :)

Here's one for you...how much did it cost to produce the Citroen advert shown here?

I'm guessing a fair tens of thousands, but wondered if anyone had read an article maybe?

No article (especially since the production costs are rarely mentioned.
I guess that tens of thousands wouldn't be enought just for the CG involved, nevermind the complete production.
At least 250K in real money (i.e. € ;) ) for the complete production is my guess.

Cheers,
Mike

At a guess, I had heard for Car Manufactors usually have 3 quaters to a million pounds sterling in revenue for adds like this.

Sorry, I refuse to convert this to Euros :)

Lightwolf,
Stuttgard has an awesome Stattgallerie. I was there many years ago. They had an exhibition of Otto Dix, my favorite artist.

Ah thanks guys - these are the figures I need :)

As usual - a potential client has asked for something 'similar to the Citroen advert' - they do get carried away with these things. Whilst it would be great to have a go at something like this we are no where near big enough to pull that off, but that will scare him from that idea anyway :)

Cheers

It sounds like a classic request, clients wants pixar quality CGI character animation for 50 pence because your just an artist :D

The Embassy VFX (http://www.embassyvfx.com) did the "Alive with Technology" ad for Citroen a few years ago. You can still see it on their site.

Yeah it was originally a Neill Blomkamp produced spot, where the C4 dances..
(it was a much better ad than the ice skating, XSI version) ;)

Neill now works for AtomicVFX in Cape Town (South Africa), AtomicVFX use Lightwave among other software..... (and the same dancing ad is featured on the AtomicVFX website) http://www.atomic-vfx.com/

You could always contact the ad agency, or Embassy or Atomic and ask them how much to do another one... :)

You can imagine the meetings, and advertising/marketing meets, pre and post production, shooting, editing VisualFX, meets budget, time and a small outfit.. Means you would need a fairly concise way planning it with a very small team.
