Hi guys,
I just want to introduce myself as a new member of this community. I hope I will be able to find what I came here for.

I am new to LightWave, could anyone please point me in the direction of beginner's lessons somewhere where i can learn LW from the beginning

I'd suggest Dan Ablan's Inside Lightwave Books, you can't go wrong with them as they cover almost everything from modeling to rendering - all steps are deeply explained so you can not feel lost as an absolute beginner.

You might also want to look at his signature courseware, available at http://www.3dgarage.com - I would also suggest Kurv Studios learning material http://www.kurvstudios.com

Welcome aboard. I strongly suggest trying out videos first. And theres a free 1001 tips and tricks that us in the community made just for beginners like you. I would go through it if I were you. Just make a search up there between New Post and Quick Links. ANd search for "request to makers of ..." and there youll find what absolute beginners need to know. Cheers.
