View Full Version : Now They've Done It!

It's a rendering app that the boys over at the old Lux are launching at us. I don't know why they coudn't just say that in the first place. I saw the brief blurb over at Extreme Tech. Here's the link if I may post it:

Brad also stated that it will be for all 3D apps.

No I think it will be an anim Package

Can virtually guarantee you it's LW 8's render engine.

For those who have a hard time finding the pertinent sentence. Took me 3 times reading (ummm, scanning) it to find it.

Unlike past system introductions, where Apple had demonstrated the G4's alleged superiority thorough optimized Photoshop filters, this time Jobs demonstrated the G5's capabilities in several real-world applications, comparing them both against a desktop Pentium 4 as well as a pair of Intel Xeon processors. The G5 systems outperformed Intel processors in Photoshop, a 3D rendering application by startup Luxology, and Wolfram Research's Mathematica application.

Over on the Newtek Mac forum they're going wild about G5s, Luxology+Apple, new OSs.

jeeeez you're right !!

Hmm. That doesn't mean that a rendering system is all Luxology is about. If it is, it better be a real time rendering system. It's hard to imagine that they haven't released any info if it was just a rendering system . That's no big news.

I should add that I was just reading somewhere else that Lux had developed a way to utilize the power of the CPU instead of the GPU for display purposes. That doesn't sound like just a renderer to me.

I like sprite. and not that damn annoying CG one that keeps turning up.

'hey you, outa here and get me a SPRITE nghh'

isnt LW behind all the others anyway, it only has its own rendering engine, even if it does kick *** surely the option of others would be an improvement.

I am sure you can write your own render engine for Lightwave.

How else can you add SSS?

You're thinking of hasenpheffer, which is a dish made from peppered cow.

SSS is a shader.

In Germany they have mad cows, so you wouldn't want to pepper one.

Well, maybe you'd have to pepperspray one if he got really mad.
