This bottle is basically built with the famous Jack Daniels tutorial parameters, but this liquid is much more visible, and the bottle much smoother. How can I get a good "refracted fish eye lens" effect inside that will make it look like it's not an empty bottle?

I would start by upping the refractive properties on the clear surfaces, and see what that gives you.

Yes. Most glass has an index of refraction around 1.5.

It doesn't look like the bottle has much thickness--you might want to add an inward-facing copy of the bottle to get the thickness of the glass rendering realistically. (If you haven't done this before, there's an excellent tute at:

(--click on "Glass & Transparent Surfaces.)

Also, it look like the level of liquid in the bottle (if it's not a blue bottle)extends all the way to the very tip-top. Lowering the liquid level might help too.

thanks very much for the tips, as well as the link. The Jack Daniels tutorial is the only glass/liquid tute I've found. It's good to have a couple different perspectives. Thanks again.
