I need to have some scenes where there's fighters that all have lights on them, but i heard that in lightwave you can only have 16 lights. is there any way to get around that?

16? I'm fairly sure you can have as many as you like, just set the Max Lights setting accordingly...

you can have like 1000 lights by default, but only 8 will show in OGL, but they can be set to show what 8 you want with the checkboxes for them.

Me shuttering at the though of only being able to use 16 lights.............

OpenGL lights depend on GFX card too. My old 3Dlabs can show 16 lights in LW openGL and new Nvidia (and older ones i had) can show 8 lights in OpenGL.

As far as sapceships and renderings you can use as many as you like :).

You can whack the light limit up if required - a long time back I did an accurate model of the stars in the night sky, using a couple of thousand tiny lens flares!
