Question! :)

Can I render / output Normal images 16 bit SGI images, so they can be used in post process??? This seems to be a really important pass to generate. It can be done in other programs (so I've been told)

Further more, Where can I output more passes? Shadow, depth etc?? Without having to use the PSD export??
Is there such a standard thing in LW9.0??

It is possible and fairly easy, it's just not easy to find in the documentaion.

Under the processing TAB for Add Image Filter, ther are a couple choices there for Render Buffer View or Buffer Export and the like. You can add multiple copies if needed. I think these get output to the same file type as selected in the Global Render Tab, but I'm not 100% on that so test first.

You can also use exrTrader, to save as an EXR... which supports various flavors, and there's some free plugins flyin around for buffer saving.
I'm not sure about SGI 16 bit, but why stop at 16, when you can save as 32 bit with .hdr, .flx and .exr?

cineons also let you get 12bit log output. rpf and rla also allow multiple channel export (through the image filter savers) but I imagine that EXR is superior

when exporting individual buffers, make sure you understand that Nodal based shading has it's own Spec and Col Buffers, that dont appear on the same buffers as standard texture layers.

Render out a test, with an multisurface object using 1 Nodal texture and one Standard layer/

You'll see what I mean.

I think NT plan to update this - at some point.
