Going to buy another blade for my rack.
Which is best bang for the buck now, still better to go dual (which ?) or quad (which ?)

thanks

I upgraded to a Dell Precision 690 with double Intel dual cores and an ATI FireGL7200. The quad cores were just out when I bought this so I decided to go with the duals as I couldn't find any test data.

It is VERY fast with LW and at least as stable as anything I've had before. I'm running WinXP 32bit, as I also use this for video editing, and, unfortunately my Matrox video editing board doesn't yet support 64bit. I went with the Intel's instead of the Athlons because they have been testing faster for 2D, video and 3D.

The multiple threads are really nice, as I can render with Screamernet via a batch file in the background, and edit video or use LW with hardly any noticable slowdown. (maybe a slight hesitation when screamernet writes a frame to disk). .
