Not a stupid question at all! You simply have to buy a copy of LW9 and register, easy! :D

You have to register again at the US site for the beta.

Here (http://register.newtek.com/)

Once you're registered you should see a LW9.2 open beta banner, you click on that and follow the instructions if I remember rightly.

No, that's how it used to be, now everyone registers with the US site.

When you sign into register.newtek.com there should be a banner with LightWave 9.2 Open Beta on it - a graphic, rather than in the drop-down. Try that.

If it's the final release version on Windows or Mac PPC I suppose you'd post it on this forum? If it's the Mac universal binary version you need to post on the beta forums.

I think you're supposed to post all bugs in the beta forums, assuming you have signed up for the beta. Or better yet send it to [email protected] That way it will be looked at for the next release.

I downloaded the 32 bit version of 9.2 for windows installed it.
Being the newbie that I am, I tried something very simple, rendering
a particle system I want to use. LightWave crashed on the 1st frame.
I duplicated this several times and it crashed each time.
Here is what I did:

Open Layout.
Click on DYNAMIC OBJ and scroll down and select PARTICLE.
When "Add Particle emitter" window opens, select PARTIGON EMITTER.
Close the properties window and select the RENDER tab.
Under OPTIONS click the RENDER GLOBALS.
Click the OUTPUT tab and save the animation as an AVI.
Render the scene and Lightwave crashes on the 1st frame.
If you try and save the animatin as a QT movie, it crashes.
If you select HV EMITTER everything runs ok.
Am I doing something wrong?
thanks,

I'm running LW on a P-4 3.x mhz processor.
2 megs ram.
WindowsXP with Service Pack 2.
NVIDA Geforce 6600.
