Sometimes one needs to turn on HDRI lighting through 'Image World' or 'Texture Environment', still mantaining the black background.
Usually I achieve this by putting behind the scene object(s) a black, non diffusing polygon, unseen by rays, unaffecting the alpha channel, and big enough to cover all the background. But this is a boring procedure.
Someone knows if there is some command or trick to hide the HDRI Image on the background, leaving it pure black (or another color)?

Thanks!

Hi Clockmaster,

you can just go to the Compositing panel and put a black image in the background there, this way you will get a HDRI lit scene but a black background :)
